This is truly fascinating. I'm wondering if anyone a the Historic Society knows more about "the one of 12 dams of the 2000 HP Hydro Electric Plant" are these dams still in operation?

Evidence of the dams still exist and most are still intact but no longer control water levels. These all occur around Slave Lake on the O'Donnell Road north of Northbrook however all the dams are now on private property. The main dam had a hole blown in it draining the main lake. This dam was maybe 20' high in some places. Several smaller dams run through the forest. The canal (penstock) can be seen from the road although you need to know where to look. Two photos exist below in the photostream. The most impressive is the penstock canal which routed the water from the dams to the turbines and powerhouse.
