Dated 9/12/11 on the right side of the slide. The same date as the LC photo of the USS New York keel laying which was also in Brooklyn Naval Yard. According to the Wikipedia article for this ship, it was commissioned on Aug 31, 1911, just teslve dayes earlier in Philadelphia. Perhaps, like the Wyoming, it went from Philadelphia to New York for "fitting-out"? Second down on this Naval History page is a photo of USS Utah in 1911 in New York Harbor for "fleet review".

The crane-bearing barge in the foreground, numbered B7, appears to be named ALPHA across the stern.

Thanks! We'll fix the date in the source data and reload the description.

Thanks for locating this photo in a newspaper B-59. We'll be sure to identify this as the Brooklyn Navy Yard.
