Violet Romer (1886-1970), born in San Francisco as Violet Romer Shawhan. She danced in London and New York, and was photographed by Edward Weston. She turns up in several New York Times articles in the 1910s.

The emotion in Violet Romer's face shows that she is hurt. Her hand positions also indicate that she is telling someone to stay away because she is distressed. You can tell that she is a ballerina because of the way her feet are positioned and her beautiful arms.
