According to the wikipedia article trialsanderrors links to,
"In 1913, Minas Geraes took the Brazilian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Lauro Severiano Müller, to the United States, reciprocating the visit U.S. Secretary of State Elihu Root had paid to Brazil seven years earlier." There are other Bain photos associated with this visit, e.g., www.flickr.com/photos/library_of_congress/3512140731/
