Everyone: Thank you for your comments! While Minas Geraes was the name of this ship and so should remain the spelling in the caption, it makes sense to add the modern spelling of Minas Gerais to the record for those searching by that term. We'll add that when we update the record.

According to the wikipedia article trialsanderrors links to,
"In 1913, Minas Geraes took the Brazilian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Lauro Severiano Müller, to the United States, reciprocating the visit U.S. Secretary of State Elihu Root had paid to Brazil seven years earlier."
