Sorry, Powerhouse, but you have mapped this photo incorrectly. If it was taken from McMahon's Point, the photo would be the other way around. I think that it was taken from the headland near where Kirribilli House is now.

pretty sure you are looking at the wrong headland. the railway line in the tyrrel is the one at lavender bay, sort of runs into luna park.

in the background you can see garden island - back when it used to be an island
