Per that wikipedia article: Shortly before his arrest, Davitt had persuaded his family to emigrate to the United States. In July 1878, Davitt made a trip to visit them and raise money through a lecture tour to bring his mother and youngest sister back to Ireland (his father had since died). Upon his arrival in New York, he was welcomed by the United States-based republican organisation Clan na Gael and its leader, John Devoy. In its first such venture of the kind, the Clan organised Davitt's lecture tour, which lasted until December.

So July-December 1878, after he was in prison but before the Land War.

What a great photo. Looks like a very dangerous beach to be launching and landing currachs. Incredibly skillful oarsmen (and some women) in those days. Many thanks.

Looks a bit staged. Sitting into a currach while it is on rocks is and was a thing to be avoided, for obvious reasons.

Delia Larkin, I think, holds the Irish Worker poster. She contributed to it weekly for its three year existence from 1911 to 1914. The printers then grew afraid to print it. She organised the feeding of three thousand children during the lockout and founded the Irish Women's Workers Union. It had distinctive badges and the women here may be wearing them. Davitt was dead since 1906 but W.M. Murphy, his fellow Nationalist, lived on to organise against the workers unions. He owned Dublin Tramways and the Irish Independent. Delia is also in another picture in the collection after the women's imprisonment. Beautiful Picture.

Because more detail is apparent, we can date it now to Saturday, 6 December 1913. So, someone identified, and another photo dated: Time to haul out the NLI Flickr Bell again, methinks - Ding, Ding, Ding!
