However, there is a Joseph Dawson, a general merchant, in the 1911 Census at 2 Main St., which is described in the Building Return Form as a grocery and hardware shop.

There are a couple of other photos of Dawson's that are not yet digitised, including this one which mentions that their motto was "that they sold everything from a needle to an anchor."

Bentall was an agricultural machinery manafacturer www.itsaboutmaldon.co.uk/bentall/ www.gracesguide.co.uk/E._H._Bentall_and_Co Nameplates say "T. McKenzie & Sons, Ltd., Dublin", and "Bentall's Patent Combined Mill for Crushing & Grinding". McKenzies archiseek.com/2016/1884-thomas-mckenzie-sons-pearse-st-du... was a hardware and seeds supplier in Pearse St. i remember buying a billycan there for the site.

Two storey house to the left is still visible in Streetview. One of the few railway shots we've seen where things are in better nick today!

I'd be interested to see this O'Dea photo, although it does not seem to be digitized yet. I think it may be beside my old primary school.

John Spooner Definitely shiny new single furrow ploughs just waiting for a buyer. I would say it's safe to assume they would be horse drawn.

I think O'Brien's is now the Roost Bar in streetview. Check the chimney pots on the left.
