This has got to be the New York Giants baseball team, heading to their training camp in Marlin, Texas. The team went in at least 2 groups. Since John McGraw didn't go with the first group (and I don't see him here), this is probably the first group which left on February 23, 1917. A New York Times account lists the players in that group, mostly pitchers and catchers.

So viewers can place the location (and as only the photo owner can do this) it would be appreciated that when adding this interesting photo to the Clerestory Coaches (Railways) Group, could you kindly use the Flickr mapping facility. Further information is indicated in this link. (See item #2, note A). Should you need further help with mapping there is also an example available at this link: click here........ and then click on the pdf file. Many thanks.

How times have changed, these magnificent animals are now largely 'catch and release', being too valuable to be caught only once.
