I road the 20th Century Limited on its last voyage ever. It was from New York City to Chicago on January 2, 1967 on that very railroad bed pictured along the senic Hudson River. I was reporting for active duty in the Navy. The dining car was everything elegant you see the in the movies. I felt so out of place, a kid in a sailor suit, among very elegantly dressed people.

"The accident to the New York Central's Twentieth Century Limited at Hyde Park on March 13, 1912, was due to an irregularity in super-elevation of the outer rail, or what is more commonly known as a low spot in the track, and not to a broken rail, as was generally supposed, according to the finding of the Public Service Commission of the Second District, after a most thorough investigation. Photos of this wreck shouldn't be tagged "NYC", if they're of the March 13, 1912 crash -- that happened outside of the city, in Hyde Park.

NYC is not New York City in this case; it's the railroad New York Central.

Hi, I'm an admin for a group called New York Central Railroad, and we'd love to have this added to the group!

When adding this photo to the Clerestory Coaches (Railways) group, please kindly geotag where possible to identify the location for the benefit of many of the world wide members! Many thanks
