Dowager Queen Louise, Denmark (LOC)

  • swanq said:
This title would have applied to the former Princess Louise of Sweden after her husband's death in 1912. At that time she would have been about 60. NYPL has a photo digitalgallery.nypl.org/nypldigital/id?1240817 in the same dress and jewels as Queen, So this is probably a photo that was taken earlier and which Bain acquired/copied (or at least captioned) after her husband's death. See en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lovisa_of_Sweden Married to Frederik VIII (Christian Frederik Vilhelm Carl) (June 3, 1843 – May 14, 1912), King of Denmark from 1906 to 1912. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frederik_VIII_of_Denmark Curiously, the date hand-written on the negative appears to be 10/1?/27 (or 29). She died on March 20, 1926.

Thanks for your research swanq, and thanks B-59 for linking up the images of the opera singer. We'll add some of the information to the records the next time we update.
