That brings back memories. When I was going to school in Dublin during the 60's and 70's remember see some houses along the North Circular Road with similar white horses and positioned in the fanlight window too just like those ones!

I remember the Golden Goose logo on some shops and they were certainly still around in the late 70's.

I remember the Golden Goose logo and I think that it was a cooperative/promotional effort across a range of groceries.

White Horse Whiskey had a bottle to commemorate the late King George V! That may be where the notion of the white horse in his support came from??? www.thewhiskyexchange.com/P-19527.aspx

William S. Bennet (spelled with just one t) was a NY Republican politician and congressman, here are some articles: Wikipedia bio: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_S._Bennet query.nytimes.com/gst/abstract.html?res=9B03E5DB1738E633A... He went to bat for a "notorious keeper of a disorderly house" according to this article, which also points out that the congressman spelled his name Bennet, one t. query.nytimes.com/mem/archive-free/pdf?res=9404EEDA163FE6... Seems likely that the other fellow is John J. Lyons (with an s) who was another Republican Politician from NY of this era. Wikipedia article about Lyons: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_J._Lyons NYTimes article mentioning John J. Lyons query.nytimes.com/mem/archive-free/pdf?res=9902E7DB123FE6...
