Not entirely sure who she was, but she hosted a luncheon in 1939

She is in a couple of other pictures here (launching ships), click on the tag to see them.

Claudia Lyon was the daughter of Cecil Andrew Lyon, a leader of the Republican Party in Texas during the late 19th and early 20th century. He married a Claudia Dupont in 1900, and their daughter was named for her.

On May 18, 1912, Miss Lyon participated in the launch of the Battleship USS Texas, as seen in this Bain photo. On another LOC Flickr page with a photo of her (wearing what looks like the same outfit), there's a comment with a link to a New York Times article about the event.

The lace on her dress appears to be Irish Crochet.

Hi, I'm an admin for a group called Favorite Things, and we'd love to have this added to the group!

Visiting the Battleship Texas was one of my favorite things after it was retired and placed in Houston, Texas, next to the San Jacinto Monument. It is still there!

This was taken sometime at USS Texas's launching ceremony on 18 May 1912 at Newport News, Virginia.
