Yes a really talented photographer on a mission. The government really had to sell women in the workplace hard during the war. Photos that showed that women could work hard at mens jobs and still be ladies were important in entice more women to enter the workforce and getting men to accept the necessity.

I probably wouldn't be making this comment if I weren't saving a bunch of photos to print for a very young female person -- but if that's a modern vs historic title, it needs to be changed. This worker is not a girl. She's a woman. (And yes, I love these photos. This collection is a treasure.)

I agree. No lipstick, fancy hairstyles or nice clothes. This photo doesn't have the "staged" feel like most of the other working women photos in this set.
