They had to flee Georgia after the Governor commuted the sentence of convicted murderer Leo Frank, in one of the era's most sensational cases, and a cause celebre for many. Frank was lynched by an angry mob after Gov. Slaton commuted his sentence.

Leo Frank was killed in Georgia on August 17, 1915. This is presumably associated with the return of his body to his parents and funeral. NYT of August 20, 1915 query.nytimes.com/gst/abstract.html?res=FB0F17F63E5D16738... reports on the return of his body and identifies the house as 152 Underhill Avenue, Brooklyn.
