I see Lurgan Model Primary School just above the gasometers.

J Herbert "Established 1883" (written on gable middle foreground). Joseph Herbert is to be found in the 1901 Census but he and his family are gone by 1911. Would suggest we're looking at Pre 1911

Saw a similar scene last year, at the job centre on Westgate Road, Newcastle upon Tyne. Some things dont change.

Notice the stern-looking gentleman wearing the bowler hat - not part of the queue I would guess, maybe there to control number of people entering the building at any one time?

They don't wear bowler hats and flat caps in the dole queue anymore. It's all baseball caps and tracksuits ;-)

I think the rectangular white sign with a round emblem on it is a Labour Exchange sign like the one below:

Just down teh street, there apears to be a road block or barricade across the street, to the left here as you look down is the turning for Glengarrif Parade, so you are spot on
