NYT of Sept 5, 1915 select.nytimes.com/gst/abstract.html?res=F10E13FA3C551273... has a picture of Kreisler and his wife in Bar Harbor, Maine. It describes him as "domiciled at Seal Harbor" for the summer.

Apart from the fact that it seems to be Kreisler's *right* little finger that had the problem, unless this negative did not get flipped (as they usually do), this might account for the strangeness here.
