NYT of Nov 29, 1914 select.nytimes.com/gst/abstract.html?res=F10712F63C5C1373... has a piece on Kreisler as an Austrian soldier. He was injured. NYT of Sept 5, 1915 select.nytimes.com/gst/abstract.html?res=F10E13FA3C551273... has a picture of Kreisler and his wife in Bar Harbor, Maine. It describes him as "domiciled at Seal Harbor" for the summer.

From hughcurtler.wordpress.com/2013/01/20/my-friend-lloyd/ I learned that "Kreisler had apparently broken the little finger on his left hand as a child and taught himself to switch to the next finger when playing the high notes." Apart from the fact that it seems to be Kreisler's *right* little finger that had the problem, unless this negative did not get flipped (as they usually do), this might account for the strangeness here.
