Wa-Kikuyu is the Swahili name for the Kikuyu tribe also known as Gikuyu or Agikuyu. The Kikuyu tribe is the post populous tribe in present day Kenya approximately 22% of the population who generally inhabit the central highlands of Kenya. Jomo Kenyatta, the first President of Kenya was of the Kikuyu tribe. I can only think the word "growl" is a corruption of the Afrikaans word "kraal" Here is wiki: Kraal (also spelled craal or kraul) is an Afrikaans and Dutch word (also used in South African English) for an enclosure for cattle or other livestock, located within an African homestead or village surrounded by a palisade, mud wall, or other fencing, roughly circular in form.
