This is not a photo of the Army Air Service 1924 "World Fliers," but instead a photo of Air Service aviators John Macready and Oakley G. Kelly, upon the completion of their transcontinental flight from Roosevelt Field, Long Island to Rockwell Field, San Diego. See same photo and comments here:

Lt. M.J. House, Lt. F.W. Kelly, Lt. R.L. Byrd, Capt. E.C. Shively, Lt. E.R. Caughey, Capt. H.C. Maloney, Col. J.H. Thompson, Capt. J.A. Praether (LOC)

It seems that the photo shows athletes of the soldier team at the Inter-Allied Games in Paris 1919. Among the members were: - Meredith House, Riverside, Cal., 200-metre low hurdles - Fred W. Kelly, Los Angeles, 100-metre high hurdles - R. L. Byrd, Chicago, discus throw - Ed Caughey, Ukiah, Cal., 16-pound shot put (s.
