Interesting that J.J. rescued people with the Noma, while he himself died on the Titanic.

Regarding the date, obviously, it must have been shot before April 14th 1912.

puzzlemaster: Thanks for pointing this out. We can probably date the photo even earlier, since J.J. Astor and Madeleine Talmage Force were married on Sept. 9, 1911. We'll fix the date in the source data and reload the description.

This actually is the funeral of J. J. (John Jacob) Astor, who drowned in 1912 with the sinking of the "Titanic."
