This is the traditional way of ironing clothes. It is quite laborious, as the people doing the ironing use the carved wood to beat the fabric in a specialised kind of manner. It is still in use within Hausa communities, but it is mainly done for the rulers and the wealthy, who can afford to pay for the labour. Better believe it, the fabric comes out properly ironed, if not better than the electric iron. The downside is that the fabric may not last like those iron with electric pressing iron.
