    The negative caption indicates that Art Fletcher was a New York player, but the Flickr caption says the players are from the Cardinals. Fletcher's bio: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Art_Fletcher confirms that he was a Giants player.

Art Fletcher was definitely a New York Giant, so we'll make sure the caption is corrected to reflect that. rjones0856: I do think Hub Perdue has some resemblance to the unidentified player, but I don't think it's a match. Here are other images of Perdue from our holdings. His ears stick out quite a bit, and the unidentified player does not share that characteristic. Your suggestion made me curious if I could find a match for the unidentified player, however. I reviewed the roster of the St. Louis Cardinals for 1914, since we can see that from his uniform that he's a Cardinal, and checked for portraits of players in our collections. Working my way through the roster, I found photographs of nearly every player and I think I found a match for the unidentified player in outfielder Lee Magee. This photograph of Magee as well as these others show a lot of good matching facial characteristics. Thanks to all for the close looking, as always!

    I'll buy that. I was going by his unibrow and spade-shaped nose, but when I looked at the full size those aren't as impressive in this photo as I thought.

    Two of the shortest managers of all time, both about 5'6" Actually, Miller Huggins was also a baseball great, at least as manager of the Yankees and he is in the Hall of Fame. He won six American League championships (1921–1923, 1926–1928) and three World Series championships (1923, 1927 and 1928). His 1413 wins as a manager ranks 20th all-time. He was only 50 when he died, so he could have managed many more years had he lived.
