Mr Spooner is your man for details of the London Clown Cricketers... Yesterday by chance I came across an account of a cricket match played on the Northolme in 1851. It appeared in the Hull Packet and East Riding Times on July 18th 1851, and in 1874 a rather bizarre-sounding match took place there - 13 London Clown Cricketers against 16 of Gainsborough and district.

Wikipedia reports that Cork had "a short-lived horse-tram service in the 1870s" More from wikipedia: implemented in 1872 by the Cork Tramway Company. However, the company ceased trading in 1875 after Cork Corporation refused permission to extend the line, mainly because of objections from cab operators to the type of tracks which - although they were laid to the Irish national railway gauge of 5 ft 3in - protruded from the road surface.

The The Galway and Salthill Tramway Company operated a passenger tramway service in Galway between 1879 and 1918.

I can't see the Pratt's ad, but I think 1890 is too early if we're talking about Pratt's Motor Spirit. The very earliest Irish motor cars (as he have seen previously) were around 1900..

Adorably silly! It's almost like a 50s shop-window display with mannequins. But it was a great idea to use the old tram.
