    On the 11th of February, 1941 there was just one naval display in Sydney. The officers and crew of HMAS Sydney (II) marched through the city on their way to Town Hall for a presentation. They were honoured for their action sinking the Italian warship Bartolomeo Colleoni. I give some of the details of the event on my blog here: lifeasdaddy.typepad.com/lifeasdaddy/2009/07/powerhouse-mu... The white uniformed officer standing in front of this group is very likely Captain John A. Collins. With an enlargement I could identify him. Bebarfalds Furniture was located opposite the Sydney Town Hall, so this photograph was taken at the conclusion of the march through the city. ADDED: The event was reported on page 11 of the Sydney Morning Herald the next day: news.google.com/newspapers?id=SEwRAAAAIBAJ&sjid=BZUDA... collins&pg=7213,4672158 " Captain Collins, proud and obviously greatly moved by the warmth of the demonstration, drew his men up in ranks outside the Town Hall ...     frontdrive34 - I think this building currently houses Woolworths at ground level, but I don't know if there is talk of pulling it down.
