Helene Dutrieu was the leading female pilot in the world in 1911. She came to the United States in September 1911 to compete in the Nassau Boulevard Aerodrome International Aviation Meet , Garden City , Long Island, New York. If the date on the photo is correct, 1911 Sept. 26 photo was taken in front of one of the hangars at Nassau Boulevard Aerodrome
