en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Proctor_Gould_Harding William Proctor Gould Harding (May 5, 1864 – April 7, 1930) was an American banker. He was born in Boligee, Alabama, and graduated from the University of Alabama in 1881. He was the second Chairman of the Federal Reserve, serving from 1916 to 1922. After working in Cuba to reorganize the financial System, he was appointed president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston in 1923 and served until his death in 1930. His death was due to heart trouble after a long illness. He died at his Boston home. His obituary was printed in the New York Times, April 8, 1930. [1] He also served as the managing director of the War Finance Corporation.

We appreciate the identification of William P. G. Harding and his link to the Federal Reserve Board. We will add some of the information to the description when we update. The Prints and Photographs Online Catalog shows other photos of him from the Harris & Ewing collection, for example: www.loc.gov/pictures/item/hec2008003278/

The photographer, Pach Bros. (not Pack), also has a Wikipedia article, en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pach_Brothers.

Thanks Art Siegel, we'll add their full names to the catalog record. I wonder if this was a photo touting Wood's support of Harding's presidential campaign. Wood had been very critical of Wilson's lack of support for the Preparedness Movement. When Harding ran for president Wood enthusiastically supported him. After Harding became president there was some talk of him getting a cabinet position, but instead he was given Governorship of the Philippines.
