The postcard is signed "John, Jr." There was only one "John, Jr." among the Around the World Flight Army Air Service flight crews, Lt. John "Smiling Jack" Harding, Jr. (1896-1968), co-pilot (with Lt. Erik H. Nelson) and mechanic of the Douglas World Cruiser named "New Orleans" (Air Service Serial No. A.S. 1232; c/n 148). This photo is used on the Iowa Legislature's website for its 5 biographical entries on William L. Harding (1877-1934), an Iowa lawyer and politician who served in its House of Representatives from 1906 to 1912, and as its Lieutenant Governor from 1913 until sworn in as Iowa Governor in January, 1917. The person in the foreground closest to the microphone is aviator Lowell H. Smith.
