My grandfather, Joseph Featherstone, was a railway ambulanceman in Darlington until 1911, when he migrated to Australia. I wonder if he would have been involved in this incident, if he had remained in England.

Ah! beachcombing ... a life not wasted. There's some discussion (and hilarious comments) over on YouTube about which Bangor the song was about. Evidently inspired by a trip to Rhyl in north Wales, but that didn't rhyme - youtu.be/T8WiPy1xSkw.
