New York's Citizen's Preparedness Parade of May 13, 1916, in which 135,000 marched. The parade began around City Hall, moved uptown to where there was a reviewing stand in Madison Square, then up to around 57th Street. select.nytimes.com/gst/abstract.html?res=F20A15FD3F5D1773...

Really, perhaps just the original New York Times building, in back of the Franklin statue, is all that's left. I think the group in silk hats and cutaways in this picture and in one nearby is the "Mayor's Escort", which was made up of one representative of each of the 74 trade groups that marched that day. Presumably, the carriage behind them is the one with Mayor Mitchel and Col. Barbour, also seen in another picture. select.nytimes.com/gst/abstract.html?res=F10B11FD3A5B1773...
