    the motor sleighs broke down in the freezing conditions mainly due to the sheer hard work of climbing packed snow and ice.
    They were however the fore runners of todays modern tank.

    Are you certain about the date 1911? After the 1901-1904 British National Antarctic Expedition, Discovery was sold to Hudson's Bay Company, which used her as a cargo vessel until 1916. The image does appear to be Discovery, but I wonder about that date.
