beachcomber australia Yes, well spotted, this is Downshire Street looking towards Ferry Lane. Part of the Hero of Waterloo can be seen in the distance. The trees are on Observatory Hill. I identified a similar photo by Charles Walton in the State Library of New South Wales State Library of NSW collection a few years ago -

A lot of those buildings nearest the coast are still standing. The Stevens building trove.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/article/111312253 is obvious at the top of old Pottinger St. The last resident was moved out yesterday morning as part of the new rocks resumption. All change. Again.

beachcomber australia Though hidden, the notes are still there, so not lost entirely. Fingers-crossed Flickr will re-activate them at some point. [I use an old version of Firefox (16.0.1) which gives me access to the notes.]
