In response to a DMP strike?

    From a police circular

“Union is Strength The men of this station are hereby invited to attend a monster meeting to be held in the Ball Alley Street (C Division) on Thursday 31st. Chair to be taken at 5 p.m. sharp. It is requested that all night men and all others off duty will attend this meeting for the purpose of taking into consideration the signing of the memorial and also for protesting against the threatening language used by Chief Superintendent Corr on last Saturday evening.
We will take this opportunity of demonstrating (for Captain Talbot's information and guidance) that we are not reduced constables but constables whose characters are unimpeachable.

Queensland Ambulance Transport Brigade branch in Warwick, Queensland, ca. 1913

"READY ALWAYS" — THE WARWICK AMBULANCE By "CORBIE DHU". IN the 34 years that have elapsed since the center was established, the staff has attended 36,041 calls and has traveled 312,305½ miles in the performance of its duty." Behind this brief extract from the last annual report of the Warwick Centre of the Queensland Ambulance Transport Brigade lies a story of men whose one aim has been, and is, to uphold to the letter their exacting motto, "Ready Always." Side by side with the story of the bearers is a tale of unremitting effort by the brigade's committee to maintain its station as one of the best equipped and most efficient in the State. In this ideal, it has been accorded the willing support of town and country residents, on whose generosity depends the financial soundness of the brigade.
