That's a great idea, and it's already in the works for the Commons items that you see here. Since the JPGs that NYPL uploaded don't contain the header information which Flickr uses to automatically generate its date_taken field, the items default to the date they were uploaded. We did upload machine-tags with the original dates for most items. And we'll soon be updating the date_taken field with this information.

Those particular little buildings aren't there anymore. What's there now is the side of 372 W Broadway, which now houses a Tommy Hilfiger store. maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=504...
