Dublin Leader - Monday 1 June 1964 - "A bit squat"

I have heard some praise of the American Embassy from architects, though one did say he wondered how well it would wear. I have also heard that the original design sent over was toned down. A pity it isn’t a bit taller. It does seem a bit squat. The shape is at any rate more suited to the site than it would have been to many others one can think of.

John Spooner I think there are plans in place to move to a new (less squat) site soon?

beachcomber australia I think you're meant to bring it to a police station and if no-one claims it within thirty days, you can keep it, though I personally don't have a huge amount of use for a second-hand fork.

In large it looks like they both have a net each. The boy on the left is holding the one with the visible trianglular net and the boy on the right has his submerged in the water. Thats how it looks on closer inspection at least. :)

This might have been me if the photo had been taken 10 years earlier. The pond in Herbert Park was once the mill pond for the nearby Mill at Ballsbridge. This later became the Bakery of Johnton, Mooney & O'Brien (all together now!), where my father spent his working life. This site was later to make a few people very rich,... (plus ca change). The Bakery is long gone and a posh Hotel and Apartments have replaced it.

Rihslw alw Rich, I see a line in the hand of the kid in the middle of the photo and I see this line in the water also, perhaps attached to one of the sail boats ( for retrieval purposes) what do you think? Carol are you off to play with the Mayfly!
