At first I thought she was at home, but I wonder if it's actually taken in a studio? Is that a photographer's tripod at the left?

The Women's Patriotic Aerial League offered a silver trophy (shown in the photograph here) and L1000 for a flight across the Atlantic. Victoria Woodhull (Mrs. Martin) put up the prize--is she one of the women pictured?

Corbis has a picture of her and her sister dated "1910s" www.corbisimages.com/Enlargement/IH176261.html Both women in the front of the Corbis picture are much skinnier than the women on the left in this picture. An obituary, at www.nytimes.com/learning/general/onthisday/bday/0923.html , doe not include the "Patriotic" in the league's name.

Yeah, I think you're right. Ah well. Maybe her daughter Zula Woodhull is in there. ;) (I have four or five biographies of Woodhull on my office shelf right here, but only one of them has a later-life photo of VCW, and it wouldn't have been as late as the 1910s.)
