MEGANTIC (LOC)

  "SS Megantic was an ocean liner built by Harland and Wolff, Belfast, and operated by the White Star Line. The liner was launched in 1908 and was 14,878 gross register tons (GRT). The ship was attacked by a German U-boat during World War I, but survived. Megantic was taken out of service in 1931 and scrapped in 1933."   This photo is probably from late March 1915, after Megantic rescued survivors from Denver, which itself had rescued survivors of Carib and Evelyn.   Late March, 1915. The Denver was carrying survivors from the Carib and Evelyn when it was sunk, and the survivors rescued by Megantic and Manhattan. So some of these people survived two sinkings. news.google.com/newspapers?nid=2249&dat=19150401&...

  I deduce from that article and the date on the negative that these are the 16 Denver survivors aboard the SS Megantic, which arrived before the remaining Denver, Carib and Evelyn survivors on the Manhattan were brought to New York on April 1, 1915. Therefore, this is probably the Denver's rescued crew. See note under
