  After searching for John P. Henry, I found his wikipedia article. He played catcher for the Washington Senators, shown here in this photo, wearing the jersey with the "W" on his sleeve. This must be a picture of him warming up a pitcher before a game.

  Someone goofed up. You are right. It's Griffith Stadium. These are great photos, though. That is a fantastic catcher's mitt considering this was 1914. It looks like you could actually close that mitt a bit as it has webbing. I have one from the late forties that is so thick and basically no webbing that I don't see how anyone could catch pitches not thown down the pipe.
