    It is "Shand, Mason & Co., London". Samuel Phillips was making fire engines by 1760; in 1797 the firm became Phillips & Hopwood; in 1811 it was James Hopwood; by 1818 it was Hopwood & Tilley; by 1825 Tilley & Co; and around 1853 Shand, Mason & Co. Merryweather & Sons Ltd acquired them in 1928.

    The wooden halls look like prototypes for the new suburban churches of the post-war Dublin suburbs. They could be the inspiration for Donnycarney or Finglas or Whitehall or any of a dozen other optimistically sized eyesores. I'd imagine they're actually mess halls.
