If you could match up the number plates of the cars with when the plates were issued, it might give you an approximation of the date (no idea if you could get that sort of information easily).

Paul, what a great idea! I found this on Wikipedia "...From 1910 to 1937, number plates [in New South Wales] were in numerals only. Prior to 1924, these were issued with black lettering on a white background, until recalled and subsequently replaced with the reverse colour format: white lettering on a black background. ...In 1937, letters in numberplates were first introduced..." The number plates in this image are white on black and numeric only - so can we assume the date is between 1924 and 1937? ps. Paul, I've copied some of this info over onto the blog post. AB
