this was a bad prison. when they knocked it down they found human remains of people. all of the notorious killers from va were here.i was there in may 76

The street to the left of the Penitentiary is Belvedere. Spring Street runs from left to right along the bottom of the photo. The black-roofed sqare annex is the administration building at 500 Spring.
