It might have something to do with weight. In those days you bought the chassis and the engine and then you went to a coach builder to have a coach fitted on it. The chassis builder indicated the amount of weight permissable.

In the archive, a rear view of todays bus, IM 180, at Leenane. On the back is painted Tourist Car Clifden Westport, so I imagine they are going to Clifden via Leenane.
