    Toy, Ernest, 1882?- Australian violinist. He was born at Ballarat, Victoria, and at the early age of ten was sent to London, where he was enrolled as a student of the Royal Academy of Music, won several competitions, and was a gold medallist of the London Society of Arts. He was created a Licentiate of the Royal Academy of Music, London at a very young age. He then toured England and the Continent and in 1899, at the age of seventeen, was the solo violinist of the Imperial Institute, Prince of Wales Club, and Exeter Hall.
