Hannover, CL.V

  • Aviatik IMG said:
This is a Hannover CL.V, a late-war development of the earlier CL.II, and CL.IIIa variants. It was too late for widespread service, but was built under license in Norway post-war as the Hauk. An example exists still, but partially assembled.

This picture is scanned from a 1923 German language book. Langsdorff, Werner von. 1923. Taschenbuch der Luftflotten The short description Otto O W C II (1916) K 2 MG: 1 means for K 2 - Kampfflugzeug 2 [two seat warplane] O W stands for Otto-Werke, MG 1 (one machine gun) The Otto C.II was the last product of the Otto Werke (1915), which changed hand to Bayerische Flugzeug Werke [B.F.W.]. The design was a conventional two-seat reconnaissance biplane with a distinguishing triangular construction on the upper wing (never seen on any other German biplane reconnaissance type of the period). Their is another picture of the rare Otto C.II in the University of Dalles Collection - Ed Ferko collection libtreasures.utdallas.edu/xmlui/handle/10735.1/1315
