January 08, 1922 bottom of column 5 chroniclingamerica.loc.gov/lccn/sn83045774/1922-01-08/ed-... indicated that a deep coma had been mistaken for death. Death came on January 10. We were contacted recently by someone who said this photo actually shows aviator Ruth Bancroft Law not Katherine Stinson. I did some searching around and found a 1919 newspaper which published this photo saying it was Ruth Law. You can see that photo at chroniclingamerica.loc.gov/lccn/sn83045211/1919-03-15/ed-.... Also the woman looks more like Law than Stinson, so we are going to update the catalog record with the correct name.

Aileen Beales Sedgwick was a debutante in 1915/16 (New-York tribune., December 17, 1915, Page 11, with photo) and was married to James Blackstone Taylor Jr. in 1917 (The sun., November 18, 1917, Section 3, Page 2, first col.). Marion Tiffany seems to be a debutante of 1916/17, see NYT December 13, 1916 (but she appears earlier in the society colums as well). In 1921, she was married to Martin Brown Saportas (The evening world., June 02, 1921, Page 3, with photo). In 1915, Marion Tiffany was performer at a "anti-suffrage café dansant" (according to New-York tribune., April 06, 1915, Page 7, with photo).

These ladies are Tea Garden flower girls at the Grand Central Palace exhibition hall at 46th St. and Lexington Ave. in New York on the occasion of the 4th International Flower Show. According to a Times account, flower girls at the Tea Garden on April 5, 1916 (which was operated on the first show day for the benefit of war relief charities) wore "fancy, smock aprons and wide brimmed hats" under the direction of Miss Ruth Draper.
