en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irving_Brokaw the first American to compete in a sport included in the Winter Olympic program.

See www.loc.gov/pictures/search/?q=irving%20brokaw for more pictures of Brokaw skating. This seems to be part of a set taken in Central Park.

As a note, this photo and other other images of Irving Brokaw skating held by the LOC are likely from the Book "The art of skating" written by Brokaw. You can see this image in the book on page 86 (archive.org/details/artofskating00brok/page/86). On Page 6 Brokaw's acknowledgement includes "Messrs. Doubleday, Page & Co., of Garden City, N.Y. for photographs." The earliest edition appears to be 1913 or 1912 on Worldcat. Archive.org has 1913 as the earliest. (www.worldcat.org/title/1040011417?oclcNum=1040011417) The book appears to have been copyrighted on January 23, 1913 (books.google.ca/books?id=M1wcAQAAIAAJ&newbks=1&ne...)
