possibly British/Commonwealth troops in WW2, looks like a Vickers machinegun?
  • Kevin said:
oaktree_brian_1976 those are likely US troops training pre-war; note the jodhpurs and the canteens which are US design. They wore those helmets until the M1 helmet was introduced in 1941. The gun looks like a Browning M1917. Who knows who they are though.

Kevin, I believe you are correct. It also appears that the gun is not on a tripod, but is on an early wheeled apparatus. Strange setup?

Kevin, I am pretty sure you are correct. Notice the old 45 colts in the WW I type holsters. Also, the gun is mounted on something with wheels that I don't recognize, probably also from WW I. We have a WW I vintage belt and holster that looks very similar.

Definitely American . the sidearm is M1911. Web gear is American. I think the bag they all have slung on the left side is a gasmask bag. They are wearing Jodhpur style pants. The 1917 Browning appears to be on a wheeled Calvary machinegun mount. I am thinking this photo is from the early 30's. I don't see spurs and it appears the are using puttee wraps rather than Calvary boots. Because of the jodhpurs and the gun mount I think it is Calvary. It may be a National Guard unit
