It's a toy dog, not a real one.

Tramway at the Bribie Island jetty, ca. 1920.

It's not THE Bribie Island jetty, but a temporary jetty (1923-24) put in by the Brisbane Tug Company at Bongaree to enable the unloading of stone from ships and lighters (from Brisbane) for the road that they were building (rt hand background) across the sandy island to the ocean surf beach . The height of the structure enabled the small tram trucks to be emptied onto a stockpile at the far end from which the stone could be later elevated and put into trucks for taking to the head of road construction. The main Bribie Island jetty is just out of the picture, to the right. The history of it is detailed in "Light Railways" magazine, No.259, Feb 2018. www.lrrsa.org.au The whole point of course was to popularise Bribie Island and get more tourists and day-trippers to take a trip on the Tug Company's pleasure steamers. (they succeeded!). Credit G P Campbell with the whole idea.
