    Is that Manors Station at the bottom right of the photo? There's even less of it now if I remember right.

    Its hard to believe how big a part of the transport scene it was, I think part of it was used for a couple of scenes in 'Get Carter' . I need to get up to Newcastle again, I haven't visited for a while.

    Another great photo. I've always wondered if the land and area where the new Eldon Square was built on was poor quality? Derelic housing, slums etc? I ask because how they poured concrete over the land was very dramatic! The original Eldon Square which was left alone is a lovely little haven and it would've been a shame if similar structures and land was decimated in the name of shopping..

    Many thanks for your comments. I have to admit that this is one of my favourite aerial images - the view seems very familiar but when you look closely you can see so many changes.

    We've lost a lot since these were taken - Manors Station should have remained imho. It's good though that we're now losing some of the awful concrete close to Swan House. Mind you, it could have been far worse - I've seen the original plans!
