Is that Manors Station at the bottom right of the photo? There's even less of it now if I remember right.

Its hard to believe how big a part of the transport scene it was, I think part of it was used for a couple of scenes in 'Get Carter' . I need to get up to Newcastle again, I haven't visited for a while.

Another great photo. I've always wondered if the land and area where the new Eldon Square was built on was poor quality? Derelic housing, slums etc? I ask because how they poured concrete over the land was very dramatic! The original Eldon Square which was left alone is a lovely little haven and it would've been a shame if similar structures and land was decimated in the name of shopping..

Many thanks for your comments. I have to admit that this is one of my favourite aerial images - the view seems very familiar but when you look closely you can see so many changes.

I didn't manage to get a look at the older stuff in this photo when I was younger - lots of it makes sense now. Welbar House is no longer with us (some of its years were spent housing some DSS departments..) though something new has replaced it. An 'up and coming' area of Newcastle - spectacular at night too.
