Margaret Dora Thomson was born in January 1900, presumably in Fresno, California where she was enumerated in the 1900 census with her father Thomas Thomson (b. June 1866 in Scotland) and her mother Janet (Beaton) Thomson (b. June 1868 in Scotland) Her father was a foreman in a vineyard. In the 1910 and 1920 censuses, the family is found in Gilroy, Santa Clara, California, where her father was a farm manager.
