According to a nz stamps site: "The Avro 10, Faith in Australia, left Muriwai Beach, Auckland at 6 am and arrived in Sydney 14 hours 10 minutes later. Charles Ulm was the pilot, Scotty Allan the navigator/co-pilot and R.T. Boulton was the engineer. An airmail of 39,255 items was flown and a special cachet was applied."

The aircraft captured in the photo are likely Charles Kingsford Smith in his Fokker Trimotor (Fokker F.VIIb/3m) "Southern Cross" (VH-USU) and either "City of Sydney" (VH-UPI) or "City of Brisbane" (VH-UNJ) belonging to New England Airways. Both Avro 618 Ten ("Avro Ten" or "Avro X") aircraft (license-built Fokker Trimotors) escorted Kingsford Smith's "Southern Cross" during the Sydney Harbour Bridge opening celebration. New England Airways purchased the plane in 1933 from Australian National Airways. It was previously known as "Southern Sky". Crash landed in 1935 and scrapped - which dates series to between 1933 and 1935.
